I am not a profetional. I am not an artist.
I am an observer as a maker who likes watching people and creatures, and working with video. My favorite work is communications with people who show human relationships such as, conflict, struggle, even love. My works have involved in their lives and tried to let them speak up. It is story of what they want and what they feel.
When I was in school, my first trial called "Dinner", showed modern family life critically. It combined the general family conversation from the dinner table into opposit images which criticized negative family situations. My second work which is a small documentary, "Strangers voices," based on illegal foreigner labors' troubles like cultural issues and human rights. I was excited while I was making these works. I felt as if I took off my ordinary character and found remarkable personality. In a word, I became a stranger.
Since I have lived in New York, there are various and shocking issues around me. New York is perfectly composed as a good source of events and represented in unusual sorts. As an boserver, I am still enjoying and looking for these interesting enviromnets. Moreover recently I am trying to find my next trial which is setting up the boundary between realities and unrealities. The background will be in New York and New York people will be my targets.
Watch out! Here is a stranger.
I would like to see more of your photos. The one at the top of the page is really good!
ReplyDeleteHello stranger! I guess it's time to get creative. I love your photo collage!
ReplyDelete"Dinner" sounds really interesting -- do you have it online anywhere?
Thanks Christina.
ReplyDelete"Dinner" is in Korea, but I will bring it in this summer vacation!
I love the collage of photos in your artist statement, did you make it yourself?
ReplyDeleteI totally see myself as an observer also. I enjoy watching people pass by, wondering why they do what they do and I also try to predict the actions of strangers in random situations.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your work!
It takes patience and discipline to be an observer. Watching, hearing, collecting all the stimuli and gathering your own perspective is no laughing matter. What shocking issues are around you?
