Filed trip to the Museum of the Moving Image was really great experience to know the details of film making. I was surprised that I found and experienced in the museum. The Museum has historical film industry's materials from the early film equipment to modern film technologies, and it is practical for those who study film to feel actually.
There are several interesting exhibits. Early the method of film making is fascinating. Drawing the image which is different little by little seemed like very hard working, but brilliant results. Also 3D image by using lighting and moving was outstanding during the tour. I was impressed because I didn't realize that heteroptics images can be a movie.
My favorite exhibit in the tour was sound effect editting place. The guide explained how the film sound make and use in movies. He showed us several sound examples in Titanic scene. One thing that I impressed was the sound in certain part of movie is never connected with the real sound of image. For instance, the elephant sound used as breaking ship and gun shot sound used as being cut ropes of ship. It called "Foley artist" which i am interested during the tour. It makes me think more veriety to make a film.
When guide said "the film might be disappeared within 10 years," I feel the want of shooting with 35mm film. However, even if the film disappear, I am sure that their basic method would be forever and it will inspire the future movie industries. The tour leads me to think of film making carefully and it was great trip.
